Mr Tony McColl, General Manager of the Golf Cart Group said "our EMC vehicles have now been approved for a solar rebate through the Australian Government for Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This is an exciting step towards creating a greener future and also helping save golf cart owners money on both purchasing and operating a golf cart.

The RECs system was originally implemented in Australia to encourage an additional 9,500 Gwh of renewable energy generation per year by 2010 as part of the Renewable Energy Target.  However RECs will continue to play an even greater role in Australia’s energy targets with the recent announcement of the new targets to be achieved by 2020.

Each REC is equivalent to one megawatt hour of generated electricity from an accredited renewable energy source, which can be traded for cash.  The value of these certificates fluctuates according to market conditions.
